What is this site all about ?

If it's your first visit to the Albanach site - WELCOME ! We're glad you made it and hope you can get involved. This is THE site for the promotion and active support of Scotland's woodland culture.

Albanach was formed in 2003 to promote the commercial potential of woodland product. Fed up with having to settle for imported woodland products and produce we wanted to collect the very best of Scottish suppliers. Thereby allowing a choice for those interested in supporting our woodland culture here in Scotland.

We have had a fantastic response to the concept of a Scottish label and Albanach has been created for the supplier and customer alike. If you want to know where the product came from, who made it, was it harvested from a carefully managed woodland and where can you buy it ? - then Albanach provides that mark of assurance and guarantee.

If you want find out about or contribute, participate or engage with the Scottish woodland resource, this is a creative space addressing the innovative use, current practice, gathered thinking and long-term care of our natural resource.

We would like to invite you to tell us what is going on in your neck of the woods - what you're making, what you're building, what you're reading, what you're planting and what you want to see happening. Make it as visual as you want and you don't have to write a thesis. Give us a link or attach a pdf. Have a wander around the site and see what you think. There must be something that you want to tell everyone about. This is an upbeat site that can help address the sustainable and viable future for those working and living in the sector. It's also a place where people new to home grown timber products, can learn a bit more. Hopefully it's informative, rewarding and stimulating. So join up. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Regards - Barbol

Support for Scottish woodland culture

Just exactly what we have been waiting for! There are so many great producers of Scottish woodland products from flooring to fungi - they deserve to be supported. This will be the way that we can reinvigorate, replant and even reinvent our landscape and those working in it. Well done - every home should have an Albanach product in it!
